Pride and Just Plain Preposterous

If I were a soldier
And you were a soldier
We'd fight side by side

If I had your back
And you had my back
We'd have nothing to fear

But you're too scared to trust me
What are you afraid of?
Betrayal?

America is as much your home
As it is mine
Would you betray your home?

Our home is founded upon freedom
Freedom, before all else
Would you deny your fellow countrymen their freedom?

Together, we stand
Together, we fight
Together, we are a nation

And only together are we America.

~Tobi~
~Yay! Another awful school assignment. This is based on the Civil Rights...I was so totally uninspired, I made the main character a soldier, and this poem is pretty much just me spouting patriotism...Sigh...~

For a forced poem, it's not bad. I know where you're coming from. We've had to write poems on specific topics before, and they're awful! But when I write a free poem, it's alot better. I think you actually did a fine job potraying Civil Rights. you just have to let the words flow from a crevice in your soul that you never knew existed. I hope you get a good grade.
-Rachelle41 I love you
