I awoke by a shimmering pool of water and my eye caught the dark brown fur of Gearith Thundertail. The water's color was a jewel like turquoise and I watched as he used his feather white wings helped him glide under the water's surface.
"Feather white," I murmured and noted that my own were the same color.... and those of the white tiger that greeted me on the other side.
How ever does he glide like that. My wings are useless to me in the water, and they were dead weight making me a slow swimmer.
When I focused in on the water his gaze had caught mine and I realize that I had never taken a good look at him. His eyes were deep green and his striped fur gleamed under the deep blue water. He stepped out of the pool and the water seemed to drop from his fur.
Dazed I asked,"How do you swim like that?"
He smiled and and shook the last of the water from his coat.
"Fish," he said solidly.
He picked up the slimy creature and chopped down on the first have of it. He slinged the secind half to me and I gobbled it down in my hunger but, oh I wish I hadn't.
I coughed so hard but it wouldn't come back up.
"I know, it's hard the first time, but it passes over time. Eat a fish and swim like a fish," he said nodding. He nuzzled my face with affectionn, but I was so surprised I flinched away.
