A low, throaty laugh in my ear makes me smile. "Hi, Otter."
"Hey there, old friend."
We're something of an oddity in our clan: an unmated pair
keeping company with each other. Every cat shows us respect, true,
but after we pass the head-scratching starts.
The two of us retreat to our "lair" on a rocky outcrop.
It's a steep climb, but worth it. From here, we can see
all the way to the mountains.
